To ensure the safety of our patients, visitor restrictions have been put into place limiting non-essential hospital programs. As a result, all in-person prenatal education classes and tours are being suspended. We will resume in-person classes as soon as possible. Most of our prenatal education classes are being offered virtually. Please call our Babyline, 704-355-2229 for accessing virtual class information.

First Time Parent Bundle ($75): Prepared Parent Childbirth (prerequisite before Labor Support) or Naturally Prepared Parent Childbirth, Breastfeeding Class, Taking Care of Baby & Infant CPR Class, Labor Support Class, Transition Into Motherhood, Transition Into Parenting and Back to Work Breastfeeding Class.

Infant Massage/First Time Parent Bundle ($100): Prepared Parent Childbirth (prerequisite before Labor Support) or Naturally Prepared Parent Childbirth, Breastfeeding Class, Taking Care of Baby & Infant CPR Class, Labor Support Class, Transition Into Motherhood, Transition Into Parenting, Infant Massage and Back to Work Breastfeeding Class.

Repeat Parent Bundle ($50): Refresher Childbirth Class, Breastfeeding Class, Infant/Child CPR Class, Labor Support Class and Back to Work Breastfeeding Class.

Cesarean Birth Bundle ($30): Cesarean Childbirth Class, Breastfeeding Class, Taking Care of Baby & Infant CPR Class, Transition Into Motherhood, Transition Into Parenting and Back to Work Breastfeeding Class.

The location for classes is at 1025 Morehead Medical Plaza Drive on the fifth floor. Park in the Morehead parking deck that is across the street from the building. Park on the third floor and come in through the single glass door across the skybridge. If the door is locked, the code is 2229#. Take the first set of elevators on your right up to the fifth floor. There will be a sign outside the elevator doors with the class and classroom number to report to. For the Prepared Parent Childbirth class and Labor Support class, you will need a support person with you. You need to bring two standard size pillows and a blanket to sit on and wear something comfortable. There’s nothing else you’ll need to bring with you for the other classes. We have vending machines for drinks and snacks, but you may bring your own. If you have any questions, please call 704-355-2229.

During the COVID19 restrictions, all our classes are now virtual. Please select the classes you would like to attend, and an email will be sent to you with a link to join the class at the scheduled date and time. The classes are offered in real time and allow for interaction and questions during the class.

Expectant Parent Tour

Where you have your baby is an important decision. The maternity tours at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center provide information and answer questions about the following:

Tours are offered mornings, evenings and weekends. This class is complementary to parents, grandparents and caregivers. For the Maternity Center tour please meet in the Main Lobby of Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center - Main, 1000 Blythe Blvd., Charlotte, 28202.

Pregnancy 101 - Free

These classes, taught by a certified lactation consultant or a lactation educator, help prepare parents for a healthy, positive pregnancy by setting normal expectations, therefore reducing stress and anxiety. Parents will be given the tools and resources to promote healthy outcomes and topics include (this class is to be attend before your 20 week):

• Physical and emotional changes for you and your baby 
• How to maintain a healthy pregnancy
• Warning signs and when to call your OB
• Breastfeeding information
• Question and answer session
• Sneak peek at class options/descriptions for third trimester classes

Fathers/support persons are encouraged to attend. One class is free.

Safeguard Your Home for Baby

Getting your home ready for a new baby can be such a joy. Most parents are unaware that the causes of many accidental injuries in the home are predictable and preventable. In this class, a registered nurse will provide room by room strategies to show you how to create a safe environment in your home. (Ask about our "bundle" pricing when registering for this class).

These classes, taught by a certified lactation consultant or a lactation educator, are beneficial for mothers considering breastfeeding and cover topics including:

This two-hour class is for parents who are expecting their second child and would like to learn life-saving skills for their new baby and older child. Grandparents-to-be are invited to tour where their new grandchild will be born.

Help Your Newborn Sleep and Feed

Learn massage techniques to help your baby with sleeping and feeding. This class is taught by a registered nurse and certified infant massage instructor. Ask about our "bundle" pricing when registering for this class.

Labor Support - $10

In this class, you and your partner will both expand upon the knowledge you obtained from Prepared Parent Childbirth Class.

(Prerequisite: Prepared Parent Childbirth Class)

Topics include:

• Relaxation
• Positioning techniques
• Massage techniques

Your partner will also learn numerous methods on how to be emotionally and physically supportive before, during and after labor. The class is taught by a Certified Childbirth Educator/Certified Labor Support Specialist.

Prepared Parent Childbirth - $60

Carolinas Medical Center (CMC) offers prepared childbirth classes which cover the following topics:

• What to expect during labor and delivery
• Relaxation and breathing techniques
• Pain management choices

In addition to in-class discussions on the above topics, films on birth and cesarean section are shown. All classes are taught by certified instructors who are Registered Nurses in the Maternity Center. Ask about our "bundle" pricing when registering for this class.

This five-week class series is focused on parents that desire an unmedicated labor and delivery.

Big Brother/Big Sister Program

The class helps alleviate the fears of "where mommy is," and makes children feel more like participants in the big event. This class is recommended for ages 2 to 8 years old. This class includes the following events:

• Children are instructed on how to be "mommy's helper."
• Each child receives a graduation certificate and coloring book. Bring a camera!

This class is complimentary and all classes are held at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center.
