How to Get Started

At Atrium Health, we will be with you every step of the way through your bariatric surgery journey. To get started, follow these three simple steps:

• Step 1
  Contact Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois to get information on the Boeing Bariatric Centers of Excellence and determine eligibility requirements.
• Step 2
  For more information about choosing CMC-Mercy for your bariatric surgery, contact: Global HealthCare Services toll free at 888-327-3915.  
• Step 3
  Visit the Boeing Bariatric Patient Portal to participate in the online bariatric surgery seminar and complete the post-assessment.

To qualify for surgery, you should:

• Be between 18 and 70 years of age (in most cases).
• Have a body mass index (BMI) of 35 or greater, and typically exhibit a serious medical co-morbidity (such as Type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnea, etc.).
• Have previously tried a variety of means to lose weight.
• Be highly motivated to make an important lifestyle change.
