Occupational Medicine Program

Taking the proper steps to ensure a safe and healthy workplace not only protects employees, but also employers. At Atrium Health employer services, our occupational medicine program supports the employment journey by providing employees comprehensive care and access to our multi-specialty healthcare system. Atrium Health streamlines the pre-employment screening processes, manages work-related injuries and exposures and provides appropriate workplace surveillance testing and examinations.

Our occupational medicine locations (including our urgent care, primary care, emergency department and Carolinas Rehabilitation locations) offer more than 50 unique services to satisfy your team’s needs, including sports medicine and orthopedics.

Occupational Medicine Services

Occupational medicine services are provided at all Atrium Health Urgent Care facilities. Open 7 days a week from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., our Atrium Health Urgent Care locations offer 2 types of services: occupational health and workers’ compensation. Our occupational health branch focuses on the health, safety and wellness of the workplace, especially as they relate to workplace hazard prevention. Our workers’ compensation services include medical care for employees who become injured or ill as a direct result of their job.

All Atrium Health Urgent Care locations offer:

• Workers’ compensation services
• Drug screens (urine DOT, non-DOT), excluding rapids
• Breath alcohol testing
• Tuberculosis screening
• COVID-19 and flu testing

In addition, the following are treated:

• Allergies
• Infections (bladder, sinus, ear and eye)
• Cough, fever, headache, stomach pain and sore throat
• Minor cuts, burns or rashes
• Sprains and strains
• Minor bone breaks

At our dedicated occupational medical facilities, we offer our usual urgent care services plus specific occupational medicine services:

• Workers’ compensation services
• Vision testing
• Firefighter Physicals
• Tuberculosis screening
• All drug and alcohol testing
• DOT and pre-employment/post-offer exams
• Occupational medicine annual physicals

Occupational Medicine Services

Our occupational medicine program is easy for employers to operate:

• Employees do not pay out of pocket at the time of service. The employer is billed monthly for all services provided.
• Employers pay discounted service rates as compared to non-contracted rates.
• An “Authorization for Treatment” template is provided to employers. These completed forms ensure services are delivered based on employer specificity and that the employer is only charged for the authorized person and services requested.
• Employers receive a map of all urgent care centers where employees can get care, making it easy to find the closest location for treatment.
• Access to our online drug screen portal offers real-time solutions for electronic scheduling, tracking, results reporting and record keeping.
• Employers receive access to educational seminars and special events hosted by Atrium Health.
• Employers can schedule appointments online up to 14 days in advance.
