Biography

“As an infectious disease doctor, I take a step back and look at the whole picture, to analyze and synthesize data to arrive at a logical conclusion about the disease process, its impact on the patient and public health at large. This field transcends gender, organ systems and disease processes and forces clinicians to think of the human body in entirety. As Aristotle once said, ‘We can do noble acts without ruling the earth and sea.’ This ancient adage holds true for medicine, more than any other profession that comes to my mind.”

Dr. Aalok Khole is board certified in internal medicine and infectious disease and specializes in general infectious diseases. He is skilled in treating skin and soft tissue infections, bloodstream infections, endocarditis, bone and joint infections, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C and other systemic infectious illnesses.

Having completed medical school in India, Dr. Khole’s interest in infectious diseases was sparked early on upon witnessing the devastating effects of various communicable illnesses in resource-limited settings. During his early years in training, the relationship between the human body and different microbes, various disease processes and the crucial role of antimicrobials in disabling infective mechanisms further enthralled him.

Dr. Khole is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Circle of Gratitude award from Cheshire Medical Center/Dartmouth Health; the New Hampshire ‘40 Under Forty’ Award from the New Hampshire Union Leader; the Monadnock Community Health Impact Award from The Keene Sentinel; and the Trendsetters Award, awarded by The Keene Sentinel and The Business Journal of Greater Keene, Brattleboro and Peterborough.

Additionally, he received the RISE Award honoring his work during the COVID-19 pandemic surge and the Leadership Recognition Award, both given by Cheshire Medical Center/Dartmouth Health; the Maxwell Finland Award for Excellence in Research Fellowship and the Edward Kass Award for Clinical Excellence in Fellowship from the Massachusetts Infectious Disease Society; and the Fellow Leadership Award, awarded by the American College of Physicians.

Dr. Khole received his medical degree at Seth G.S. Medical College and K.E.M. Hospital in Mumbai, India, and completed residency in internal medicine at Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester, MA, where he was chief resident. He completed a fellowship in infectious diseases and immunology at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester, MA.

He and his wife love to explore the outdoors with their goldendoodle, Elsa, and they enjoy hiking, biking and kayaking. The couple are big movie and music buffs as well as foodies and love to combine these interests.
