Biography

"It is an exceptional privilege to be entrusted with a patient’s anesthesia care as they undergo surgery or procedures that enhance quality of life and well-being. Helping patients have the best possible experience is why I chose to specialize in anesthesiology, and why I love my job!”

Abby Badr is a certified registered nurse anesthetist. She provides anesthesia care for a variety of surgical specialties: vascular, cardiac, neurosurgery, spine, orthopedic, trauma, pediatric, general, robotic, gynecologic, obstetric, urologic, ENT, plastic, bariatric and more. Additionally, she has experience providing anesthesia for multiple non-surgical and minimally invasive treatment modalities. These include electrophysiology, interventional radiology, transesophageal echocardiography, electroconvulsive therapy, endoscopy, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computerized tomography (CT).

Badr has experience and clinical skills in epidural insertion and management, ultrasound-guided vascular procedures, peripheral nerve blocks and pain management, opioid-sparing and opioid-free anesthetic techniques, electrocardiography interpretation, individualized lung protective ventilation techniques and advanced airway management.

She has a special interest in pediatric anesthesia and pediatric cardiac anesthesia. She is inspired by the resilience of children and strives to help them have the best possible experience through surgeries and procedures that are often life changing.

Badr was a North Carolina League for Nursing Academic Scholarship recipient. She is a member of and representative for the North Carolina Association of Nurse Anesthetists (NCANA).

Badr received her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in nurse anesthesia at Western Carolina University, where she was class president. She served as faculty liaison and clinical coordinator liaison for her class.

Outside of work, she loves spending time with her friends, family, dogs, cats and horses. Badr stays active with exercise of all kinds, including swimming, yoga and weightlifting. She is a passionate tennis player. Her other hobbies include reading and traveling to new places.
