Biography

“Childhood infections are inevitable, but the vast majority can be easily managed with proper prevention and treatment. I find it extremely rewarding to help families understand how to best prevent their children from serious infections and guide them through the treatment and recovery process if needed.”

Dr. Adam Blatt is board certified in pediatrics. He focuses on pediatric infectious diseases, including opportunistic infections and vaccine-preventable diseases. Additionally, he treats a wide variety of congenital, chronic and acute invasive diseases of childhood.

Dr. Blatt is the medical director of the Vaccine Research Program at Atrium Health Levine Children's Hospital. His role oversees clinical trials for cutting-edge vaccine candidates and helps develop studies to describe the epidemiology of vaccine-preventable diseases, evaluate the effectiveness of existing vaccines, determine optimal ways to promote vaccine uptake and explore factors that contribute to robust vaccine responses.

He’s always been fascinated with the ways microorganisms can cause disease and how the immune system fights off infections. His practice provides opportunities to translate these principles into clinical care, ultimately helping children to thrive. He strongly believes by using the resources currently available, severe adverse outcomes from infectious diseases in children should be exceedingly rare.

Dr. Blatt received his medical degree and doctorate in medical microbiology and immunology at the University of Toledo College of Medicine and Life Sciences. He completed residency in pediatrics and a fellowship in pediatric infectious diseases at Duke University.

Married with a daughter, Dr. Blatt and his family enjoy museums, aquariums, zoos and taking walks with their 2 dogs around the neighborhood and local parks. He also likes movies and books, especially fantasy, science fiction, classics and history.
