Biography
“Mental health conditions, if left untreated, can greatly interfere with one's ability to live a fulfilling and meaningful life. It’s my privilege to treat these symptoms and observe drastic improvements in patients' quality of life.”
Dr. Saxton is board certified in psychiatry and neurology with an added qualification in forensic psychiatry at Atrium Health Behavioral Health, a facility of Carolinas Medical Center.
She won several awards for academic distinction while in college and medical school. Additionally, she received a Patient Advocate Award from the University of Michigan Department of Psychiatry and a Forensic Psychiatry Faculty Excellence Award from Case Western Reserve University.
Dr. Saxton enjoys evaluating and treating individuals with severe and persistent mental illnesses and assisting in crisis situations. She was drawn to forensic psychiatry because of her interest in issues at the intersection of mental health and the law.
She received her medical degree at Wayne State University and completed her residency at the University of Michigan. She followed that with a fellowship at Case Western Reserve University.
She enjoys traveling, hiking, skiing and trying new restaurants.
