Biography
I’m passionate about what I do and believe that the best care comes from listening to patients, understanding their needs and working together as a team.
I’m an oral and maxillofacial surgeon with extensive experience treating conditions affecting the face, jaws and oral cavity. My clinical interests include orthognathic (corrective jaw) surgery, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders, facial trauma, dental implant surgery, bone reconstruction and facial aesthetics.
Originally from Brazil, I completed my training in oral and maxillofacial surgery at Universidade Estadual de Campinas (UNICAMP), where I also earned a master’s degree. I later received my PhD in oral and maxillofacial surgery and traumatology from Universidade de São Paulo (USP) and completed advanced fellowship training in dentofacial deformities at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Oakland, California. I also completed an integrated master’s degree in dental medicine at Universidade Católica Portuguesa in Portugal.
Before joining Atrium Health, I spent many years caring for patients in Brazil, including leading an oral and maxillofacial surgery and trauma service in São Paulo. Throughout my career, I have been involved in teaching and surgical education and have participated as a lecturer and speaker at national and international scientific meetings.
I’m passionate about my work and particularly enjoy the collaboration and teamwork involved in caring for patients. I value clear communication, thoughtful planning and building a relationship with patients and their families throughout treatment.
Fluent in Portuguese, English and Spanish, I enjoy connecting with people from different backgrounds and cultures. In my free time, I enjoy outdoor activities with my family and traveling to experience different countries and cultures.
