Dr. Dries is board certified in gastroenterology. He specializes in general gastroenterology (GI), GI oncology, and the diagnosis and treatment of pancreatic and biliary diseases.
Dr. Dries is an expert in endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP). He has performed more than 8,000 EUS procedures (pancreatobiliary and otherwise), including interventional/therapeutic EUS. He has performed more than 5,000 ERCP procedures to diagnose and treat problems in the liver, gallbladder, bile ducts and pancreas. Dr. Dries also performs enteral stenting (a nonsurgical procedure to alleviate an obstruction in the digestive tract caused by a tumor) and complex polypectomy (removal of polyps in the colon) as well as general endoscopic procedures.
He has been named a Best Doctor by Business North Carolina and Best Doctors in America.
He received his medical degree at the University of Rochester and completed residency in internal medicine at Vanderbilt University. He completed a fellowship in gastroenterology at Baylor University.
