Biography
“I believe all people are entitled to care without bias and to the best of our ability. To extend our hand and provide assistance to the sick is how we as a people overcome our challenges. I strive to meet people where they are, give them hope for a new day, show them love and respect in their darkest times and provide comfort at their last. To me, this is the highest calling a person can have.”
Dr. Andrew Gilmore is board certified in internal medicine and pulmonary and critical care medicine. He focuses on primary respiratory diseases, interstitial lung disease and sarcoidosis.
Respiratory diseases, especially from infectious causes, have always fascinated him. In the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, he saw just how devastating the virus could be when many patients developed severe fibrotic lung scarring. He developed an interest in interstitial lung disease (ILD) and pulmonary fibrosis. This combines with his skill in physiology and pulmonary mechanics to empower him to build strong bonds with patients while caring for some who are the sickest.
Dr. Gilmore's research interests include the influenza virus, vaccinology, COVID-19 and interstitial lung disease.
He received a master’s degree in public health (MPH) at East Stroudsburg University and his medical degree at Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine. He completed residency at the University of North Carolina and a fellowship at the University of Maryland.
Outside of work, he and his wife enjoy going on adventures. These include cooking, exploring new eateries, hiking with their dog and seeing as much of the world as possible. Dr. Gilmore is a lifelong hockey player. An avid reader of science fiction, fantasy and classic literature, he is a book collector who is curating his own library. He’s also a film and television fan who regularly participates in a lively discussion group.
