“Babies are incredibly resilient. I love to help newborns overcome their initial illnesses and see them discharged to a loving home.”
Dr. Heling is board certified in neonatal-perinatal medicine and general pediatrics and has a particular interest in caring for extremely premature infants. He is the chief of the Department of Pediatrics at Atrium Health University City.
He has been involved in multiple quality improvement projects designed to improve the care newborns receive, including projects aimed to reduce the incidence of chronic lung disease in very low birth weight neonates and the amount of time newborns with hypoglycemia receive IV fluids, among others.
He, his wife and 2 children enjoy spending time outdoors exploring nature, including hiking, camping and traveling. He enjoys reading and gardening and has an unhealthy passion for the University of Michigan football team.
