Biography

“The goal of my work is to help patients prevent and manage cardiovascular disease, allowing them to live the lives they want to live. Not only is this accomplished through medical management of their disease, but I also focus on addressing lifestyle factors that contribute to cardiovascular disease.”

Dr. Kott is board certified in internal medicine and specializes in cardiovascular disease, cardiac MRI, echocardiography (the use of ultrasound waves to investigate the action of the heart) and cardiovascular computed tomography (CT). He has clinical interests that encompass all of general cardiology, including valvular heart disease.

He received his medical degree and completed residency at Northwestern University. He completed fellowships at the Medical College of Wisconsin and Vanderbilt University.

Dr. Kott chose cardiovascular medicine because he feels it is a field steeped in a deep understanding of basic human physiology and provides innovative and data-driven patient care. It was also a field that provided some of the most dramatic examples of making a difference in patients’ lives.

He is involved in research within the Structural and Heart Valve Disease program at Atrium Health Sanger Heart & Vascular Institute.

Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family, including his 2 daughters. He likes recreational cycling, watching a Wisconsin Badgers or Green Bay Packers game and playing golf when he has time.
