Biography

“It’s an honor to walk with patients through the challenges and triumphs of living with a heart condition. I believe my role is to advocate for patients to receive the best congenital heart care in our region.”

Whitlow is a board-certified family nurse practitioner. She specializes in adults with congenital heart disease.

She is an advanced practice provider (APP) and the director of the Adult Congenital Heart Program at Atrium Health Sanger Heart & Vascular Institute The HEARTest Yard Congenital Heart Center.

During nursing school, she watched an open-heart surgery and knew she wanted to spend her career learning about the heart and helping patients walk through whatever they may face.

She received her nurse practitioner training at Duke University and completed a residency at Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Centre.

She loves spending time with her husband, 5 children and grandchild. She enjoys all things outdoors, including hiking, biking and kayaking. She also enjoys eating delicious food, making memories and reading non-fiction. Her favorite authors are Elisabeth Elliot, Corrie ten Boom and C.S. Lewis.
