Biography

“I want to be a steady, knowledgeable guide for families facing tough health challenges. Seeing a child improve and thrive because of my help, whether through a diagnosis, treatment plan or a procedure, is incredibly fulfilling. It reminds me why I chose this path every day.”

Dr. Annette Roberts is board certified in pediatrics with a focus on gastroenterology. She treats digestive, liver and nutritional disorders in children, including conditions such as constipation, inflammatory bowel disease, celiac disease, chronic abdominal pain, short bowel syndrome and feeding disorders.

She chose gastroenterology because she loves working with children and solving complex digestive issues with a mix of clinical care and procedures. Dr. Roberts performs colonoscopies and endoscopies, which allow her to diagnose and treat patients directly. She’s dedicated to supporting her peers, contributing to the research and medical community and always striving to learn and help others grow.

Her clinical research focuses on neonatal gastrointestinal diseases.

Dr. Roberts received her bachelor’s degree at the University of Florida. She received her master’s degree in public health (MPH) and her medical degree at St. George's University in Grenada, West Indies. She completed residency in pediatrics at Nicklaus Children's Hospital, followed by a fellowship in pediatric gastroenterology at Duke University Hospital. During her fellowship training, Dr. Roberts received the Duke Clinical Research Institute Citizenship Award in recognition of her commitment to leadership, service and mentorship.

Outside of work, she loves spending quality time with her husband, daughter and miniature goldendoodle dog, Lula. Dr. Roberts and her family like exploring new restaurants and breweries around the Charlotte area and traveling whenever they get the chance. Most recently, they visited Canada’s national parks, where they enjoyed lots of natural beauty and hiking.
