Biography
“As a former athlete, I understand what it's like to suffer injuries and setbacks to your performance. My goal is to get athletes and weekend warriors back on the field or court as soon as safely possible.”
Dr. Martin is board certified in family medicine with a certificate of added qualification in sports medicine. He specializes in regenerative medicine, ultrasound-guided injections/intervention, diagnostic ultrasound, sprains, strains, non-operative fracture management, sports-related injuries, combat sports medicine/coverage and arthritis.
He currently serves as the associate program director of the Sports Medicine Fellowship at Atrium Health Musculoskeletal Institute. Dr. Martin also serves as an assistant professor of Family Medicine and Orthopedics at Atrium Health.
He has received numerous awards, including University of North Carolina’s Outstanding Family Medicine Preceptor Award, Charlotte magazine Top Doctor Sports Medicine, Atrium Health Family Medicine Preceptor of the Year and the Edwell Community Medicine Award. Dr. Martin was also nominated for the Center for Faculty Excellence - Excellence in Residency Teaching Award.
Dr. Martin has been involved in research focusing on regenerative medicine and sudden cardiac death in athletes.
