Ashley J. Bice, CNM

“We have a national crisis where Black women are much more likely to die due to pregnancy-related complications. It’s my goal to be a part of correcting and helping to eliminate this problem.”

Bice is a board-certified nurse midwife, providing care to all women of all ages.

She has worked with outreach programs that focus on preventive care and emphasizing safe sex practices to youth. She has also assisted in obtaining grants that allowed programs at the local health department to provide breast pumps for moms who need them and glucometers for women with gestational diabetes.

After watching her mother care for elderly and sick family members, Bice decided at a young age that she wanted to be able to treat those in need and teach people about prevention to promote good health. She became a midwife to empower all women with the means and knowledge to not only take good care of their families but also take good care of themselves.

She earned her graduate degrees from East Carolina University: a master’s degree in nursing and a master’s degree in health education and promotion.

Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband, dog and family. She likes doing arts and crafts projects, along with refurbishing old or damaged furniture.
