“I entered medicine to be a trusted connection for my family and my Guyanese culture, which has a pervasive fear of Western medicine. I have lost many loved ones to preventable sicknesses and diseases. I wanted to change this way of thinking by translating medical teachings and practices in hopes of breaking down those long-standing barriers. It is an honor and a privilege to be a physician.”

Dr. Hemraj is board certified in internal medicine and is a hospitalist, which is a doctor who works exclusively in a hospital. She has a clinical interest in preventive care, psychiatric care, gastroenterology, public health and medical outreach.

She received her degree in osteopathic medicine at Liberty University.

For Dr. Hemraj, food plays a significant role in her family and culture. In her free time, she loves to cook and try new restaurants. She also enjoys spending time with her cat, Noodles, traveling and writing short stories, poems and fiction.
