Biography
“I show up to work each day committed to offering women a safe environment to access both physical and mental health care. All women deserve patient-centered, evidence-based medicine with shared decision-making. Additionally, as a high-volume minimally invasive surgeon, I offer women the most advanced medical and surgical options for challenging conditions, including infertility, endometriosis and fibroids.”
Dr. Caroline Haakenson is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN). Her clinical interests include general and high-risk obstetrics, fibroids, infertility, adolescent gynecology, mental health and minimally invasive surgery (robotic and single site laparoscopy).
As a medical student, she discovered her passion for surgery. She chose OB/GYN because she enjoys providing all aspects of women's care. Her specialty allows her to practice preventive care, help women plan their families and care for women during pregnancy and throughout midlife and menopause.
Dr. Haakenson received her bachelor’s degree with a major in international relations and minor in natural sciences at the University of Southern California. She received her medical degree at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science and completed residency in OB/GYN at the University of Utah.
She is married to a middle school teacher, and they have 4 children, all of whom stay busy with soccer, football, basketball and tennis. Dr. Haakenson enjoys home improvement, landscaping projects and gardening. She has completed the Boston Marathon 3 times and looks forward to trail running, now that her family has relocated to North Carolina.
