Biography

My goal is to treat every patient the same way I would want my own child treated. As an interventionalist, I have the ability to improve patient outcomes using a less invasive approach than open heart surgery. I love being able to manage long-term care for my patients and see infants grow into healthy adults.

I am board certified in pediatrics and pediatric cardiology, with a focus on pediatric interventional cardiology.

My desire to become a physician began when, as a child, I witnessed the difficulties of my grandmother's hospitalization. I love the challenges of cardiac anatomy and pathophysiology. I am committed to moving the field of pediatric interventional cardiology forward through participation in multicenter trials and research, so patients receive the most innovative and up-to-date care.

During my previous employment in Dallas, Texas, I was named a D Magazine Best Doctor for three consecutive years.

I am a co-investigator on multiple research studies.

These include:

  • The Preliminary Percutaneous Intervention Versus Observational Trial of Arterial Ductus in Low-weight Infants (PIVOTAL) Study
  • The Harmony TPV Post-Approval Study
  • The Alterra Post-Approval Study
  • The COMPASSION S3 Post-Approval Study
  • The Safety and Efficacy Study of reSept ASD Occluder for Treating Secundum ASD (ASCENT ASD)
  • The ALTERRA Multicenter Early Feasibility Study

I received a bachelor's degree in biology from Emory University, where I graduated summa cum laude. I earned my medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia, now Augusta University. I completed residency in pediatrics followed by fellowships in pediatric cardiology and pediatric interventional cardiology at UT Southwestern Medical Center.

I am married with two sons and a mini golden mountain doodle dog. My husband and I love to travel, go scuba diving and participate in activities at our church.
