Biography
“I have always enjoyed working with children because their openness and curiosity about the world around them is refreshing, insightful and often funny. It’s especially rewarding to work with families managing a complex medical condition, tend to their psychosocial wellbeing, advocate for them and learn and grow alongside them as they face challenges.”
Dr. Peterson is a licensed pediatric psychologist. She focuses on psychosocial and behavioral health services for children with medical conditions.
It is her goal to equip each family with the tools to help positively impact both psychosocial and physical health outcomes. She values being part of a multidisciplinary team that advances wellness for children and families.
Dr. Peterson’s clinical interests include working with children with cancer, parent mental health in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) and working with children with pain or other chronic conditions. Her research interests include neurodevelopment in children with medical conditions and assessment of child and parent anxiety in pediatric food allergies.
She received her doctoral degree in clinical psychology at The George Washington University. She completed residency at the University of Miami. Dr. Peterson completed fellowship training at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and at Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital at Case Western Reserve University.
Away from work, she loves exploring the outdoors with her husband, their 3 children and dogs, whether it’s a trip to a national park, skiing out west or visiting beaches close to home. She also enjoys reading and running.
