Dr. Catherine Smith is trained in obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN).
She was drawn to the OB/GYN field because she feels it’s a privilege to care for women during some of the most vulnerable, transformative and empowering moments of their lives. She is deeply motivated by the opportunity to help women improve their health literacy and meet their health goals.
Dr. Smith received the graduating resident award from The Society for Academic Specialists (SASGOG) in General Obstetrics and Gynecology and the Humanism and Excellence in Teaching Award at UT Health Houston from the Arnold P. Gold Foundation. She is a member of the Gold Humanism Honor Society and the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.
She received bachelor’s degrees in biomedical sciences and psychology at the University of South Florida and her master’s degree in medical sciences at Boston University School of Medicine. Dr. Smith received her medical degree at Eastern Virginia Medical School and completed residency in OB/GYN at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.
Outside of work, she enjoys maintaining an active and balanced lifestyle. Yoga, strength training, hiking and reading, especially fantasy books, contemporary fiction and memoirs, are regular parts of her routine, helping her stay grounded, energized and connected to nature.
Dr. Smith also loves spending time in the kitchen experimenting with plant-based recipes and nurturing her sourdough starter. She and her partner like spending time with their cat, Henri, exploring the best trivia, espresso and outdoor spots in Charlotte, and visiting their families in Florida, Ohio and Ireland.
