Biography
“I chose family medicine to practice a wide breadth of medicine and be a resource for my patients. I want to ensure continuity and provide care for people at every stage of their lives, through the good times and the challenging times, too.”
Dr. Hanckel is board certified in family medicine. He practices the full scope of family medicine with a focus on diabetes, hypertension, obesity management and performing minor procedures.
He is inspired by the words of author Jack London, who wrote, “The proper function of man is to live, not to exist.” Dr. Hanckel strives to help his patients live well by improving their health, which is the foundation for a good life.
Dr. Hanckel is a recipient of the Wake Forest University School of Medicine Excellence in Medical Student Teaching Resident Award. He received his medical degree at the University of South Carolina and completed residency at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center.
Away from work, he and his partner enjoy restaurants, parks and exploring Charlotte with their golden retriever, Koda. Dr. Hanckel is also a passionate science fiction fan and podcast host. He loves sports, especially Miami Heat basketball.
