Biography

I chose my career in pediatrics early in medical school when I realized how much a pediatrician can shape the lives of children from "crib to college.” Each day, I am guided by my faith. I say a quiet prayer each morning, asking for compassion and wisdom as I care for my patients and their families.

I am inspired by the simple joys of my work, the smiles, hugs and the hand-drawn pictures I treasure from my patients. My goal is to help families feel supported, informed and confident as their children grow and thrive.

My approach to care is simple: listen, listen and listen some more. Parents know their child best, and I value what they share. We make decisions together. I want each child and parent to feel at ease, so I try to make visits as comfortable and relaxed as possible. When you visit me, you can expect a caring, compassionate partner who truly wants the best for your child’s health and well-being.

I am board certified in general pediatrics and have more than 25 years of experience caring for children and adolescents. In addition to helping parents prepare for each stage of development during their child’s well visits, my clinical focus includes:

  • Asthma
  • Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
  • Anxiety
  • Eczema
  • Wart ablation
  • Routine vaccinations and preventive care from birth to 18 years of age
  • Guidance on growth, development and behavior

Throughout my career, I have worked to support children both in and out of the clinic setting. I founded the 95210 Kids on the Go program to encourage physical activity among school-aged children. I also started a life jacket loaner program to help prevent childhood drownings. I serve as medical director for our Reach Out and Read program, which promotes early learning and parent-child bonding. In addition, I’m honored to have held leadership roles in pediatric education and children’s safety.

Outside of work, I enjoy running and traveling to visit our grown children in Ireland and California. I’m married to a dedicated oncology nurse at Levine Cancer Institute, and we are the proud parents of three. My faith and family are central to my life, and I am grateful for the many ways they shape how I care for others.

It is a privilege to be part of your child’s journey. Families often tell me, “Dr. Vedder makes it better,” and that motto means the world to me.
