Biography

“I am driven to help people live their best lives and to teach medical students and resident physicians how to serve others through the practice of medicine. It’s my honor to build relationships with families over the years and help them live the healthiest lives possible.”

Dr. Chelley Alexander is board certified in family medicine and has been recognized by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) for quality diabetes care.

She chose to practice family medicine because it allows her to provide life-long care to patients within the context of their lives, families and communities.

Dr. Alexander serves as chair of the Department of Family Medicine at Wake Forest University School of Medicine in Charlotte.

Her research has been focused on improving health care for underserved populations and on innovative teaching methods for multidisciplinary teams.

Dr. Alexander received her bachelor’s degree in neuroscience at Davidson College. She received her medical degree at The University of Alabama at Birmingham, where she also completed residency in family medicine.

She is married with 3 adult daughters. In her leisure time, she enjoys hiking, whitewater rafting, music of all kinds, raising butterflies and reading murder mysteries.
