Dr. Overton is board certified in internal medicine. He focuses on general rheumatology, including rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, lupus, Sjogren’s syndrome, sarcoidosis, inflammatory myositis, scleroderma, spondyloarthritis, polymyalgia rheumatica and osteoporosis.
He is fascinated by the complexity of systemic rheumatic disease, both in terms of diagnosis and management. He values the opportunities to practice in a field of rapid scientific advancement, lifelong learning and multi-disciplinary collaborations that provide the best possible patient care.
Dr. Overton received his medical degree at Virginia Commonwealth University, where he also completed residency in internal medicine. He completed a fellowship in rheumatology at the University of North Carolina.
Away from work, he enjoys spending time with his wife, daughter and their dog, especially outdoors. Dr. Overton likes to run, lift weights and play guitar. He’s an avid football, baseball and basketball fan.
