Biography

Dr. Sachar is board certified in internal medicine and specializes in gastroenterology. He is skilled in general gastroenterology, endoscopic mucosal resection and endoscopic stent placement.

He serves as faculty for the General Surgery Residency Program and the Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center. Additionally, he is a clinical associate professor in the Department of Medicine at the UNC School of Medicine.

Dr. Sachar served in the U.S. Army in South Korea, Afghanistan and Iraq and was the chief of Gastroenterology at Womack Army Medical Center at Fort Bragg, NC, for 5 years.

He was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and was named the Most Outstanding Endoscopist in the U.S. Army in 2007.

He is a fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology and a member of the American Gastroenterological Association and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.

Dr. Sachar received his medical degree at the Uniformed Services University and completed residency and a fellowship at Walter Reed Army Medical Center.

Outside of work, he enjoys ice hockey, crossword puzzles and traveling.
