David Lee Wright, MD

I’m a board-certified family medicine physician who believes the best healthcare begins with relationships. Originally from Raleigh, North Carolina, I completed my residency training at Southern Regional AHEC in Fayetteville, where I cared for patients from diverse backgrounds and developed a patient-centered approach grounded in collaboration, compassion and whole-person care.

I believe health is shaped by much more than diagnoses alone. I have special interests in lifestyle medicine, LGBTQIA+ health, and addiction medicine, including medication-assisted treatment (MAT). I partner with patients to use nutrition, physical activity, sleep, stress management and meaningful connection as tools for lifelong wellness.

I’m committed to creating an affirming environment where patients feel heard, respected and empowered to participate in their care. I also believe that mental health is inseparable from physical health and approach each patient with empathy and curiosity, recognizing that every person’s story is unique.

Outside of medicine, I enjoy staying active and connected to the world around me. I enjoy cycling along Charlotte’s greenways, working out, hiking, traveling and attending live performances. I’m involved with local Stonewall Sports leagues, including pickleball and kickball, and enjoy spending time at the beach to recharge. At home, I share life with my two cats, Lucy and Ethel, who keep me entertained and grounded.
