Dr. Debra Regier is board certified in pediatrics, medical biochemical genetics and medical genetics and genomics. She specializes in genetics and metabolism.
Dr. Regier is the director of Genetics and Metabolism at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center.
She values caring for patients across the lifespan, diagnosing new and rare disorders, working with statewide newborn screening programs to identify at-risk infants and caring for metabolic patients throughout their lives.
She serves as president of the Society for Inherited Metabolic Disorders (SIMD) and has received a Rare Impact Award from the National Organization for Rare Disorders (NORD).
Dr. Regier received a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry at Biola University and a doctoral degree in biochemistry at Wake Forest University. She received her medical degree at the University of Utah, where she also completed a post-doctoral fellowship. She completed the Pediatrics and Medical Genetics Combined Residency Program and a Medical Biochemical Genetics Fellowship at the National Human Genome Research Institute - Children's National Hospital.
In her leisure time, Dr. Regier enjoys all types of crafting. From glass fusion to quilling to painting, she likes almost anything that can be created from craft store materials.
