Biography

Dr. Schellhase is board certified in pediatrics and pediatric pulmonology. He specializes in treating lung diseases in children, with a focus on cystic fibrosis.
Dr. Schellhase is the center director for the Atrium Health Cystic Fibrosis Program and the program director for the Levine Children’s Cystic Fibrosis Program at Levine Children’s Specialty Center.
He and his team received the Outstanding Partnership Award from the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and the Atrium Health Silver Touchstone Award. He brings a team approach to patient care and strives to continually learn, improve and excel.
He received his medical degree at the University of Texas. He completed a residency at Vanderbilt University Children's Hospital and a fellowship at the University of Colorado Health Science Center.
Dr. Schellhase is involved in several research studies funded by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. One study investigates new therapies for cystic fibrosis and another provides improved screening and mental health services for patients and their families.
He is married with 4 children and 5 grandchildren. An avid runner, he also enjoys photography and reading in his free time.
