“Having your child in a hospital for an acute illness is scary and anxiety-producing. I see my role as that of a guide, not only to help deal with the illness and its treatment, but also to help children and their families understand the how and why of treatment. It’s important to have a compassionate and caring doctor whom they can trust and depend on for all aspects of care.”

Dr. Dodds is board certified in pediatrics and pediatric hospital medicine. He specializes in acute medical illnesses in infant and children.

He won the Atrium Health Physician of the Quarter Award and the Atrium Health Physician Engagement and Approach Award at Atrium Health - Lincoln multiple times. Additionally, he was recognized as an Atrium Health Touchstone Award winner for his work on Neonatal Opioid Withdrawal Syndrome and he was a finalist for an Atrium Health Teal Acorn Innovator of the Year Award at the Atrium Health Levine Children’s Jeff Gordon Children's Center.

Dr. Dodds feels pediatrics is a specialty about hope for the future and helping children achieve the best future available to them.

He received his medical degree at the University of South Carolina and completed a residency at Prisma Health, formerly Palmetto Health.

Dr. Dodds is involved in quality improvement and research regarding Neonatal Opioid Withdrawal Syndrome. He received a translational research grant from Atrium Health for studying opioid effects on infant brain development.

Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife, a child psychiatrist, his son and his 2 daughters. He plays rock guitar, writes music, enjoys being outside flyfishing, paddle boarding, and following Chicago Cubs baseball.
