Biography
“I am motivated to make sure my patients have the best care and opportunities for advanced treatments as soon as these become available. The landscape for diagnosis and treatment is changing very rapidly, and I think it is an exciting and hopeful time for making a real difference in patients’ lives.”
Dr. Story is board certified in endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism. She specializes in treating cancer and other tumors of the thyroid, adrenal and parathyroid glands. Her other specialties include treatment of endocrine complications of immunotherapy and genetic predisposition to cancer syndromes.
She has conducted original research at Atrium Health Levine Cancer Institute in circulating thyroid tumor DNA, the value of thyroglobulin as a tumor marker and screening for pheochromocytoma in patients with neurofibromatosis (also called Von Recklinghausen’s disease).
She received her medical degree at the University of Mississippi and completed her residency and a fellowship at the University of Virginia.
Dr. Story’s family is also focused on the medical profession, with her eldest child studying internal medicine. In her free time, she likes to read history and enjoys traveling whenever possible.
