Biography
Edward Copelan, MD, is board certified in internal medicine, hematology and oncology. He is a member of the American Society of Hematology, American College of Physicians, American Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation and the American Society for Oncology. He has served on numerous panels and study sections for the National Cancer Institute and on the executive committee of the Center for International Bone Marrow Transplant Research. He is an associate editor of the Biology of Blood and Marrow Transplantation. Dr. Copelan has received many awards as a physician and is consistently named on several lists of America’s best physicians. His clinical interests include acute leukemia, myelodysplastic syndrome and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. Dr. Copelan has published extensively in these areas. Married and the father of three children, he enjoys exercising, reading and spectator sports in his spare time. He also supports community activities and has coached youth sports basketball, baseball and soccer teams. He serves on the board of directors of the JADE Foundation, dedicated to improving the quality of life of young adults with cancer.
