Elizabeth Katie Borders, MD

“I enjoy the variety of our daily work from seeing patients in the office to delivering babies to performing surgeries. I also like the opportunity to care for patients over their lifetimes and have been able to establish some wonderful relationships with my patients.”

Dr. Borders is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN) and specializes in minimally invasive hysterectomies and contraceptive management. She is passionate about preventing teenage pregnancies, and she is working with others at Atrium Health to prevent maternal health disparities.

She is an assistant specialty medical director within the Women's Service Line and medical director at Atrium Health Shelby Women's Care. Additionally, she is the chair of the North Carolina section of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the regional OB champion for the North Carolina Maternal Health Innovation Grant and the local Pregnancy Medical Home OB champion.

Dr. Borders is a Shelby native who received her medical degree and completed her residency at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She lives in Shelby with her husband and 2 sons and enjoys trying new recipes and traveling in her spare time. She is very involved in her community, serving on various boards.
