Eric T. Warren, MD

As an athlete, I suffered a devastating knee injury that helped lead me to sports medicine and that still results in empathy and compassion for my patients who are in pain or have an injury. I care deeply about my patients and thoroughly enjoy helping them return pain-free to the sports, work and activities they love.

I am board certified in both primary care sports medicine and family medicine. I specialize in non-operative musculoskeletal care, including the use of shockwave, diagnostic ultrasound and biologic injections, as well as treating sports related concussions.

I received my medical degree from the University of North Carolina and completed my residency and sports medicine fellowship at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center.

Outside of seeing patients, I serve as Atrium Health's Sports Medicine Specialty Leader for North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia. I am the team physician for both the Charlotte Knights and Weddington High School and am an assistant team physician for the Carolina Panthers. I am also the medical director of athletics for Union County Public Schools and have served as the chief medical officer for the ACC Men’s Basketball Tournament, multiple UCI BMX World Championships and World’s Strongest Man Finals, as well as the covering physician for multiple ACC Baseball Tournaments. 

I’ve been honored for multiple years as a Top Doctor in sports medicine by Castle Connolly and Charlotte magazine. I received the 2018 North Carolina High School Athletic Association’s Medical Professional of the Year award, a Charlotte Business Journal Excellence in Healthcare Award and the American Medical Association Physician’s Recognition Award. 

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my wife, our two daughters and our two rescue dogs. In my spare time I lift weights, read and play guitar.
