Eric T. Warren, MD

As an athlete, I suffered a devastating knee injury that helped lead me to sports medicine, and I care deeply about helping others heal. 

I’m board certified in primary care sports medicine and family medicine. I specialize in non operative musculoskeletal care, including the use of ultrasound and biologic injections, as well as sports related concussions. I help patients set and achieve goals and return pain-free to the sports, work and activities they love.

I serve as the medical director of the Atrium Health Musculoskeletal Institute Sports Medicine Network and its Southern Division. I’m also the medical director of athletics for both Union County Public Schools and Wingate University, and I serve as the team physician for the Charlotte Knights, Weddington High School and Cuthbertson High School. I previously served as the chief medical officer for the ACC Men’s Basketball Tournament, multiple UCI BMX World Championships and the World’s Strongest Man, as well as the covering physician for multiple ACC Baseball Tournaments. 

I received my medical degree from the University of North Carolina and completed my residency and sports medicine fellowship at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center.

I’ve been honored multiple years as a Top Doctor in sports medicine by Castle Connolly and Charlotte magazine. I received the 2018 North Carolina High School Athletic Association’s Medical Professional of the Year award, a Charlotte Business Journal Excellence in Healthcare Award and the American Medical Association Physician’s Recognition Award. 

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my wife, our two daughters and our two rescue dogs. I also lift weights and play music in my spare time.
