Biography

"I enjoy educating people about their medical conditions so they can control them and not be controlled by them."

Dr. Schafer is board certified in internal, pulmonary, sleep and critical care medicine. He specializes in asthma, emphysema, sleep disorders and COPD.

He received the Stewart L. Mooring Award for excellence in medicine at Rutherford Regional Health System (RRHS) and was named a fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians.

Dr. Schafer enjoys the challenge of helping people breathe better and the opportunity to help others.

He received his medical degree at Wake Forest University and completed his residency and fellowship at Maine Medical Center.

In his spare time, he enjoys working outside taking care of his family’s horse farm.
