Biography
“Leukemia is a lightning strike of a disease. I greatly appreciate the opportunity to help people navigate this incredibly tough diagnosis. Due to continued advances in the science of blood cancer treatment, I can realistically tell almost everyone with a new diagnosis that we are going to go for a cure.”
Dr. Knight is board certified in internal medicine and specializes in hematology-oncology (cancer and blood disorders). He has clinical interests in leukemia and blood cancers, bone marrow failure syndromes, bone marrow transplants and cell therapy.
He values building relationships with each patient as they move toward a potential cure.
Dr. Knight has been named a Top Doctor by SouthPark Magazine.
His primary research centers on financial toxicity in patients (financial hardship due to the cost of cancer treatment) and on developing interventional models to help address this issue. He is chair of the Financial Toxicity Tumor Board at Levine Cancer Institute, which provides support to patients. He has secured funding for the program, frequently reviews scholarly articles and serves as a national expert on the topic for multiple media outlets.
Dr. Knight received his medical degree at Louisiana State University. He completed residency at the University of North Carolina, where he also completed fellowships in hematology and oncology.
In his free time, he likes to visit Charlotte’s parks and playgrounds with his wife and 2 children.
As a Louisiana native, he has a deep appreciation for home cooking and the local restaurant scene. He enjoys cheering for the UNC Tar Heels and New Orleans Saints.
