Isabel Cristina Jean, CNM, IBCLC

“I saw my first birth at Atrium Health Union, so it’s wonderful to come full circle and serve families in Union County, North Carolina. I’m passionate about women's care and patient empowerment. I want to ensure patients understand their medical problems and treatment options so they can make the best decision for themselves and their families.”

Jean is a certified nurse midwife and an international board-certified lactation consultant (IBCLC) who specializes in obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN). She has clinical interests in prenatal care, birth control counseling, breastfeeding and lactation, and abnormal uterine bleeding. She speaks fluent Spanish.

Watching her niece’s birth changed Jean’s life. She knew she wanted to be a part of this special moment in families’ lives. Being in the delivery room brought her to women's health, but patient care and empowerment have kept her there.

Jean received her master’s degree in nursing at Eastern Carolina University.

When she’s not working, she enjoys spending time with her husband and 2 children. She loves to read and is interested in all genres, including historical fiction, personal finance and psychological thrillers. She also enjoys road cycling.
