Biography
“If you asked me as a young child what I wanted to do, I would tell you I wanted to be a doctor and to help people. That has never changed. I enjoy seeing all ages and working on disease prevention and lifestyle issues that impact health and make a difference in my patients’ lives.”
Dr. Shepherd is board certified in family medicine, with a clinical interest in preventive medicine, comprehensive cancer screening, birth control, and the diagnosis and treatment of sexually transmitted infections. He is president of Atrium Health Cabarrus Family Medicine clinics and residency program.
He is certified by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) for patient-centered care in diabetes, heart/stroke and medical home.
He received his medical degree at Wake Forest University and completed a residency at Duke University, where he served as chief resident.
Dr. Shepherd is married to a nurse and has 2 children. He is active in his church and Boy Scouts. In his free time, he enjoys spending time outdoors, saltwater fishing and farming. He also loves spending time with horses.
