Biography
“I enjoy taking care of patients throughout their lifetimes, from providing birth control, helping them through their pregnancies and deliveries, approaching menopause and helping them manage the postmenopausal phase of life.”
Dr. Wheeler is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN). He is the assistant specialty medical director of Women's Service Line and medical director of Atrium Health Northeast Women's Health & Obstetrics.
He received his medical degree at East Carolina University and completed a residency at Saint Vincent Hospital. He is a fellow of The American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Dr. Wheeler specializes in the management of normal and high-risk pregnancies, urinary incontinence, complex gynecological conditions, including pelvic masses, cysts, fibroids and endometriosis, minimally invasive gynecologic surgery and surgery for pelvic organ prolapse.
He and his wife, 2 biological sons and 2 adopted daughters enjoy spending time together, especially outdoors. He also enjoys cooking, fishing, scuba diving, traveling and performing yearly mission work with children in Nicaragua.
