Biography

“It's a privilege to be part of a child and their family's life during periods of severe illness, and heart failure and complex congenital heart disease is no exception. Heart transplantation adds an additional dimension of charity and life-giving generosity that is unique to this field. I consider it an honor to help manifest the hopes of patients, donors and their families during difficult times and to celebrate their victories with them throughout their lifetime.”

Dr. Jameson Dyal is board certified in pediatrics. He has a special interest in treating patients who have or may eventually need a heart transplant. This includes patients with a variety of conditions that lead to heart failure, as well as those that may require mechanical circulatory support and those who have received a heart transplant.

The ethics of scarcity and resource distribution drew him to the field of organ transplantation, and it is the complexity of pediatric heart disease and the joy of caring for children that make his job so rewarding.

Dr. Dyal’s research interests include pediatric heart failure and heart transplantation and the ethics and health disparities related to these areas.

He received his medical degree at the University of South Florida and completed a pediatric residency at Johns Hopkins University. He completed a pediatric cardiology fellowship and a heart failure and transplant fellowship at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.

Outside of work, he enjoys playing tennis and ping pong. He and his partner like to spend time with their beloved schnauzer while getting to know all Charlotte has to offer.
