Biography

“I love providing patient care through bedside care, telemedicine, team-based care and a number of newer tools and processes we have in healthcare today. It is a privilege and honor to be there for people when they are most in need and to help families make sense of a loved one's illness.”

Dr. Singh is board certified in internal medicine, pulmonary disease, sleep medicine, and critical care medicine. He specializes in treating lung nodules, lung cancer, pleural effusions, obstructive sleep apnea and mechanical ventilation.

He is the medical director for Innovation and Quality Improvement for Pulmonary Oncology at Atrium Health Levine Cancer Institute and the medical director for Critical Care Practice and Education at the Jan & Ed Brown Center for Pulmonary Medicine.

Dr. Singh has been named a Top Doctor by Charlotte magazine for multiple years. He has performed the largest number of advanced diagnostic bronchoscopies in the Charlotte region (including robotic bronchoscopies) and is the only pulmonary physician performing medical pleuroscopy.

Dr. Singh enjoys treating patients at different stages of their disease process while integrating a wide array of diagnostic and therapeutic innovations in medicine. In addition to taking care of patients, his daily work also includes teaching, writing, speaking and serving in various capacities and leadership roles among several national societies that advance patient care.

He received his medical degree at the University of Illinois. He completed residency at the University of Rochester (Strong Memorial Hospital), and fellowship training at Duke University Medical Center.

Dr. Singh’s clinical and research expertise spans an array of critical care and thoracic oncology but is centered on understanding how healthcare systems adapt to doctor shortages. This has led to incorporating innovation, technology and team-based care in a number of ways at Atrium Health.

Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife and 3 children, teaching in the local Sikh religious school, traveling and coaching youth sports. He also loves watching professional sports, including NBA games, college football and basketball.
