Biography

“Psychiatry and healthy thinking are the foundation for all health and the last frontier of medicine.”

Dr. Hendra is board certified in psychiatry and neurology. She specializes in psychiatric emergency medicine, with a focus on wellness, preventive care and telepsychiatry.

She loves to teach and is an assistant professor in the Psychiatric Emergency Services Department at Atrium Health Behavioral Health, a facility of Carolinas Medical Center. She is the founder of the non-profit Delta Health Foundation, Inc., which keeps her on the cutting edge of evidence-based care.

Dr. Hendra is a retired colonel in the United States Air Force and served as the state air surgeon for the North Carolina National Guard Joint Forces Headquarters.

She received her master’s of business administration (MBA) at Queens College and her degree in osteopathic medicine at Michigan State University. Additionally, she completed a residency at Michigan State University.

In her spare time, she enjoys flying planes, sailing, gardening and learning to surf.
