Houser is a board-certified family nurse practitioner, specializing in family practice, student health, occupational health and population health. She is an advanced practice provider (APP) with Atrium Health and a nurse practitioner (NP) at Gardner-Webb University Student Health Center.
Atrium Health awarded Houser the KEIP Award for Excellence in Leadership and Patient Care, as well as the Values in Action Award for Excellence in Patient Care and Demonstration of System Values. She has been published and spoken nationally on matters of interest to nurse practitioners.
She received her master’s in nursing at the University of North Carolina and her doctorate in nursing practice at East Carolina University.
Houser is married with 5 children, a shih tzu named Penny and a cat named Peanut. When she’s not working, she enjoys reading historical fiction and camping with her family.
