Biography
“One of the best parts of my job is watching children grow into young adults after they have won the battle against leukemia and lymphoma. I enjoy helping families get through these challenging diagnoses.”
Dr. Kaplan is board certified in pediatrics and pediatric hematology-oncology (cancer and blood disorders).
He is the clinical director of pediatric leukemia and lymphoma and the program director of Quality and Safety at Levine Children's Cancer & Blood Disorders, a facility of Carolinas Medical Center.
His first rotation during his residency was in pediatric oncology. He immediately found it fascinating and enjoyed getting to know his patients and their families. From then on, he never considered any other specialty for his career.
He received his osteopathy degree at Kansas City University, completed his residency at Penn State University and followed that with a fellowship at Brown University.
He and his wife, Amanda, have 3 children, Ben, Rebecca and Caroline. They are all rabid Philadelphia sports fans and follow the Eagles, Sixers and Phillies. He loves hiking and going to movies with his kids.
