Biography
“My goal as an orthopedic surgeon is to help my patients maximize their quality of life, return them to their desired activities and reduce pain associated with musculoskeletal conditions. My patients' life goals are also my professional goals.”
Dr. Hill is board certified in orthopedic surgery. He treats patients of all ages and specializes in arthroscopy, rotator cuff surgery, degenerative pain of the knee, meniscus injuries and surgery of the hand. He is skilled in joint replacement of the shoulder, knee and elbow.
Further skills include simple fracture care for children, treating sports injuries in competitive athletes, managing degenerative problems in middle-aged patients and maintaining life independence in older patients.
Dr. Hill is an adjunct assistant professor of orthopedic surgery at Atrium Health Musculoskeletal Institute Orthopedics & Sports Medicine. He is co-chair of the Atrium Health Southeast Region Musculoskeletal Institute and liaison to the U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) Warrior Care Program.
He received a Physician Recognition Award from the American Medical Association.
As a former college athlete, Dr. Hill relates well to his patients and understands orthopedic and sports injuries. Rather than managing chronic medical problems, he was drawn to orthopedic surgery to help return athletic patients to their desired activities. He likes the idea of helping patients get back to their lives, whether it’s high school football, running, high intensity interval training or winning the retirement community pickleball championship.
He received his medical degree at Mercer University. He completed a residency at Wellstar Atlanta Medical Center and a fellowship at Beth Israel Medical Center.
Dr. Hill’s current research topics include a novel surgical technique for recurrent shoulder instability, distal bicep tendon repair fixation techniques and enhanced nonoperative shoulder fracture care.
In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and 4 children. He is a hands-on dad and can be found on the field, on the sidelines and in the yard playing with his children. He is an avid fly-fisherman, plays multiple instruments and is a member of St. Gabriel's Catholic Church.
