Biography
“I do my job because of my inherent belief that women should have control of their own bodies and medical decisions. I believe in giving informed options in every situation so the patient can make the best, educated decision for herself.”
Dr. John Paul Estrada is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN). He is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (FACOG).
He currently practices all aspects of OB/GYN, with special interests in the management of pregnancies, enlarged uterine fibroids, cervical dysplasia, abnormal uterine bleeding, postmenopausal bleeding, and adolescent gynecology and contraception.
Dr. Estrada also specializes in benign gynecologic surgeries and offers expertise in abdominal and laparoscopic approaches to sterilization, hysterectomy and myomectomy. He is skilled in minimally invasive procedures, including robotic surgeries, endometrial ablations and fibroid resections.
As a young student, he was always intrigued by the concept of pregnancy and its many intricacies. Dr. Estrada also fell in love with the surgical aspect of his specialty and its ability to span the lifetime of a female patient.
Dr. Estrada received his bachelor’s degrees in biology and Spanish at St. Mary’s University of Minnesota and his medical degree at Ross University School of Medicine. He completed residency in OB/GYN at Mercy Hospital and Medical Centers in Chicago. He is fluent in Spanish.
Dr. Estrada was born and raised in Chicago. He and his husband have twins, a boy and a girl, that keep them busy. They love traveling with their children, including many trips back to Chicago to see family and to the beaches in Mexico. They most recently spent 6 weeks living in Spain, where the twins attended preschool at an international school.
