Biography
I chose a career in medicine because I’ve always loved caring for others, especially children. As the oldest of seven siblings, I naturally took on a caregiving role early in life. In high school, I had the chance to shadow our family pediatrician, and that experience helped me see that pediatrics was the right path for me.
Every day, I’m motivated by the chance to support and educate families and help children grow up with good health. I also enjoy teaching the next generation of physicians and helping them discover their own passions in medicine.
I believe in open communication and strong partnerships with families. I encourage questions, listen carefully to your needs, and I’ll work with you over time to guide care decisions together. My goal is to be a trusted partner for families and to make a meaningful difference, especially during challenging times.
I am board certified in both pediatrics and internal medicine. This dual training allows me to see the bigger picture and support patients across all stages of life.
My clinical interests include:
- Preventive care and healthy development
- Adolescent health
- Helping young patients transition to adult care
- Supporting families managing chronic conditions
Teaching has been a central part of my career. I’ve had the privilege of working with medical students, residents and faculty, helping them grow and succeed in their careers. Watching learners develop their skills and confidence is one of the most rewarding aspects of my work.
I also serve in leadership roles as the interim department chair in the Department of Pediatrics and division chief for General Academic Pediatrics at Atrium Health. These roles allow me to support both patient care and the development of strong, compassionate health care teams.
Outside of work, I enjoy exploring Charlotte and taking in the city’s vibrant arts and music scene. I love attending musical theater performances and listening to live music. I am married and have five adult children, and I treasure the time we spend together.
Thank you for trusting me with your care. I look forward to getting to know you and partnering with your family on your health journey.
