Biography

“I have always loved caring for children and working with families. My additional training and experience in general internal medicine allow me to provide care for my patients into early adulthood.”

Dr. John Frohna is board certified in general pediatrics and internal medicine. He serves as the division chief for Atrium Health General Academic Pediatrics and the vice chair of faculty development for the Department of Pediatrics. 

As a clinician and teacher, his passions are providing care to patients and families and helping to develop the next generation of doctors. Dr. Frohna has spent his career teaching and mentoring others.

Dr. Frohna has been recognized as the Pediatrician of the Year by the West Virginia Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

His areas of research include medical education, professionalism and competency assessment.

Dr. Frohna received his bachelor’s degree in biochemistry and molecular biology and his medical degree at the University of Wisconsin. He received his Master of Public Health (MPH) at the University of Michigan.
