Dr. Joseph Edwards is trained in obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN). He is skilled in minimally invasive and robotic surgeries. Additionally, he treats high-risk pregnancies and prescribes contraception.
His parents instilled in him a strong belief that every person deserves to be treated with respect and dignity, regardless of their background, and he is motivated to ensure that each of his patients has this experience. He chose OB/GYN because of the unique opportunity to help people with both medical and surgical issues throughout their lives.
He speaks Spanish fluently and holds a language competency certificate for medical Spanish.
Dr. Edwards received his undergraduate degree and his medical degree at the University of North Carolina. He completed residency in obstetrics and gynecology at The University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Sarah, and their families, who were very excited when they moved back to North Carolina. They love cycling, running, hiking and swimming. Dr. Edwards and his wife met at the University of North Carolina, and they love watching the games anytime the Tar Heels play.
