Dr. Kalyana Nandipati is board-certified in general surgery, specializing in the surgical treatment of obesity, reflux disease, hiatal hernia repair, reoperative foregut surgery, esophageal cancers and surgical endoscopies. He also specializes in robotic surgery and minimally invasive surgery.
He serves as the chief of bariatric surgery and the fellowship director of bariatric surgery at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center.
Dr. Nandipati believes in a holistic approach to care that addresses the physical, psychological and social aspects of obesity. He values working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive care.
His research interests include obesity, reflux disease, esophageal cancer, weight loss surgery, insulin resistance and outcomes following bariatric and anti-reflux surgery.
Dr. Nandipati received his medical degree at Osmania Medical College in Hyderabad, India. He completed his residency at New York Hospital Queens and a fellowship at Emory University.
In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and 2 children. Dr. Nandipati particularly likes outdoor activities such as biking and hiking.
